Six songs based on poetry by poets from Gaza: Mohammed Moussa, Nour, Hala Salah, and Abdel el Ramadi. All these poems were written between October 7, 2023 and now, as the world watched unspeakable horrors play out in Gaza every day; they are powerful verses that capture both the hope and despair of a people on the brink of destruction: hope for surviving another day, for reuniting with loved ones, for rain and flowers; despair over lost friends and family amid the relentless slaughter, destruction, hunger, and chaos.

For composer Maarten Ornstein, it is essential to give these poets a voice and let their testimonies resonate through music. He composed the six songs, along with instrumental interludes, for baritone, cello, and piano. The music was premiered in January 2025 in Amsterdam by Baritone Mattijs van de Woerd, cellist Nuala McKenna and pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi.
